Last week the La Marzocco South Africa team attended the 5th annual Coffee Magazine awards, held at the beautiful Cape Town International Convention Centre. Coffee professionals from across the country gathered to celebrate our incredible local industry and key players pushing South African coffee’s boundaries.

As a title sponsor of the awards and the Best Barista award, the team was honored to welcome Accademia Coffee Education leader Nora Smahelova to present Mr. Cyprian Mkhize with the award for South Africa’s best barista for 2022. Cyprian hails from Lineage Coffee Westville – a small town on the eastern coast of South Africa just outside the port city of Durban and has become an institution in the Kwa-Zulu Natal barista community. Congratulations on your very well-deserved award, Cyprian.

La Marzocco South Africa was honored and humbled to accept the Best Supplier to the Industry award for 2022. “We’re humbled and thrilled to accept this award – and would like to extend massive and endless thanks to the incredible South African coffee community that has welcomed us so positively into the country since we opened a little over 12 months ago,” said La Marzocco South Africa Brand manager, Sinjon Wicks.

“We look forward to building more meaningful relationships with the community as we move into 2023. We’d also like to extend enormous congratulations to our fellow nominees and award-winners – we’re honored to be mentioned alongside you all.”

Of course, mention must be made of the incredible team at the Coffee Magazine for the incredible event they put together, as well as everything they continue to do daily for the South African coffee community.
