La Marzocco, world leader in espresso machine innovation since 1927, will be premiering the Modbar AV at the Specialty Coffee Expo taking place at Washington State Convention Center, April 19-22, 2018. In addition to this, the company’s booth will be showcasing the Leva as well as the brand new ZM Grinder. On the Skybridge inside the Convention Center, the team will host their True Artisan Café, which will feature specialty coffee roasters like Intelligentsia, Heart and Equator Coffee Roasters working on La Marzocco Linea PB AV/ABR machines. Added La Marzocco events include a Women’s Tech Workshop, taking place at their Ballard headquarters, an Expo Kick-Off Party and at the La Marzocco Café, George Howell will be the featured roaster.
Since 2015, La Marzocco has been working closely with Modbar on product improvement and development, business management, sales and marketing. La Marzocco is proud to be launching the first machine designed fully in partnership between our two companies: Modbar Espresso AV. The Modbar Espresso AV is an elegant espresso machine with the complexity of a traditional machine tucked neatly under the counter. It exists for the barista who wants to redefine cafe aesthetics while still delivering the quality, consistency and simplicity of a magical coffee experience. This new machine supports two espresso taps from a single module, allowing cafe owners to grow their espresso machine as they grow their business. It also comes with an adaptable drip tray, multi-position programmable lever and Linea PB volumetrics and optional scales.
Modbar Espresso AV was developed in partnership between La Marzocco and Modbar engineering and features the same La Marzocco boiler design, PID temperature control, and ease of serviceability the company is known for.
“Modbar and La Marzocco have enjoyed a close partnership over the last few years. Modbar AV marks the first time we have collaborated together on a new product. Modbar AV takes the original Modbar concept and rebuilds it from the ground up joining together the innovation of Modbar with the experience and reliability of La Marzocco. We couldn’t be more excited about the result,” shares Andrew Daday, General Manager, La Marzocco USA.
Inside the La Marzocco Booth (#1207), attendees will also experience Leva, launched in Fall 2017. Leva re-invents the lever espresso machine of the 1950s and 60s for today, offering a groundbreaking aesthetic and engineering in a solid, mechanical yet safe, reliable and user friendly machine. The Leva has an innovative user-interface and eye-catching design. The adjustable-height drip tray features an expansive and flexible work area.
Another new product to see in the La Marzocco booth will be the ZM Filter grinder from Mazzer. The ZM Filter grinder is Mazzer’s first grinder dedicated to filter coffee. It features digital grind adjustment, true zero burr calibration and a digital interface that allows cafes to save up to 20 grind presets for different coffees and brew methods.
On the Skybridge of the Convention Center, La Marzocco will host the True Artisan Café, a showcase of roasters and machines. The roasters work on shifts across all machines, sharing some of their best coffees with attendees. Roasters this year include Intelligentsia, Heart and Equator coffee roasters and they will work on Linea PBs with scales. True Artisan Café opens each day of the Expo at 9:00am and stays open until 5:30pm.
On Saturday April 21, La Marzocco is hosting a workshop called “Let’s Fix It” in partnership with Coffee Women. The goal is to give anyone interested in the field of coffee tech an opportunity to learn what is involved while highlighting the leading women in the industry.
