A life-changing story with a coffee background, originally featured by New Generation, a charity organization dedicated to community programs in Burundi.
Herve is a a 25 year-old native of Bujumbura, Burundi, born to a Burundian father and a Congolese mother. When he was quite young he faced the loss of his closest family members and dealt with tough times, both for himself and his siblings. After much struggle, he managed to complete high school in the Congo and upon his return to Burundi, he learned about an organization called New Generation, which gathers young people with innovative ideas who are inclined to become entrepreneurs one day, and was selected amongst the top five. Today, he works at Ikawa Connection, a coffee shop, while attending a local university and singing: his first song, called “Je viens de loin” (I Come from Faraway) was just released and is already a popular musical piece, appreciated (and loved) by many. Recently, he sixth in the 2015 Burundi National Barista Championship. Ever grateful to New Generation, and full of hope and inspiration for others, Herve is looking forward to becoming a Barista entrepreneur in the near future, while pursuing singing and songwriting.
