We are joining the 56th edition of the Barcolana International Sailing Regatta, the largest sailing race in the world, in partnership with Illy café. The Barcolana takes place in Trieste, home to Modbar‘s offices, La Marzocco’s subsidiary brand, and an under-counter modular espresso system.

The city is home to contemporary and historic roasteries. Now a port of entry for many green coffee traders, it has been linked to coffee for centuries. In the early eighteenth century, it was the first to welcome the earliest wave of coffee-filled cargo ships from Ethiopia and Yemen.

The Barcolana involves the entire city. Its core is the Barcolana Village, which includes Piazza dell’Unità and Trieste’s seafront. On the seafront, the La Marzocco team will be ready to meet the thousands of people who gather annually for this event, with exhibition spaces and activities dedicated to the public.

At the Barcolana Village, from the 8th to the 13th of October, along with a coffee-based cocktail and the La Marzocco Lifting Challenge, a contest with exclusive La Marzocco merchandising as a prize.

A boat sporting the La Marzocco logo will be available for the visitors wanting to taste an espresso made with coffee roasted at Accademia Del caffè Espresso on board. The La Marzocco Crew will sail the boat during the regatta on Sunday to celebrate Trieste’s exciting culture and passion for seamanship and craftsmanship.

La Marzocco is familiar with the sports stage, having previously participated in plenty of competitions and partnerships. Among the most recent ones, we remember their collaboration with The Gehrig twins, enduro biking champions, Specialized for the Mobile Coffee System, the sponsorship of the SIC 58 Moto 3 Team, and last but not least, this summer’s victory in the H-Boat World Championships.

The Barcolana days are known for their atmosphere, international participation, and power to unite people over sports. They are also an occasion to spread awareness of the current conditions of the Mediterranean Sea’s environment: Scientific institutions, businesses, governments, and NGOs will take part in the Barcolana Sea Summit from October 9th to 11th at the Trieste Convention Center.

Sustainability is central to La Marzocco, which has established a department dedicated to it and to the transparency of its operations worldwide.
