We’re happy to welcome Elysian Coffee into the showroom this month for Roasters in Residence.
As Neighbours in mount pleasant we happily see the elysian crew on a regular basis, so it’s only fitting to kick off 2025 with one of Vancouver’s OG’s in the coffee community.
Elysian began with the dream that your coffee should be excellent every single time. With a focus on consistency they opened their first location in Kitsilano back in 2000. Creating supportive community spaces that felt authentic. The company grew, and launched their Roastery in 2011, moving their production to the space we know and love on Onatrio & 7th ave.
Today they have 4 locations across Vancouver, and have grown their business to offer not only consistent delicious coffee in their cafes, but partnering with other businesses offering technician support and wholesale services across BC!
“Our goal is not to be perfect, it’s to be a little better everyday” – Alistair Durie
With a focus on building strong relationships with women owned farms Elysian has highlighted some of Guatemala’s finest. Jovita Castillo, Rita Cohen, and Sofia Plocharsk are perfect examples of the resilience and generosity of women in farm leadership.
We spoke with Oskar from Elysian, he regularly drops by for visits and handles wholesale relationships.
“In Guatemala, women make up the majority of the labor force on coffee farms, and globally they constitute up to 70% of farm work, despite owning fewer assets and land. Despite facing challenges like limited access, discrimination, and violence, many women have created opportunities for their families through coffee farming. To diversify their sourcing and highlight these stories we’ve worked with these women to bring you our Ella espresso! ”
We’ll have their Ella espresso on bar in the Vancouver showroom for January, Stay tuned for upcoming events Elysian will be hosting in our space!
