The Swan combines new technology with nearly 100 years of experience in espresso machine innovation.
The Swan combines new technology with nearly 100 years of experience in espresso machine innovation, allowing La Marzocco to reimagine the coffee grinder. At its core, the Swan grinder features patented anti-static technology that removes any static charge from the coffee as it leaves the burrs. This allows for the ground coffee to fall directly and neatly from the burrs into the portafilter without sticking to any surfaces, fundamentally rethinking the way a coffee grinder works. With its advanced motor control and monitoring system, the Swan brings a level of consistency that was previously not possible. This motor control system allows for a constant burr speed regardless of resistance from the coffee or changes to the size of the grind. It also allows for more accurate dosing by precisely tracking the number rotations of the burr instead of using a timer. Reliability, usability, and speed are further improved by a belt-driven burr carrier to relocate heat created by the motor, a familiar interface that mirrors La Marzocco espresso machines, and button-free actuation that uses the electrical conductivity of the portafilter itself.
Highlights
Patented Anti-Static Technology
The Swan's patented anti-static technology uses an electric field to neutralize the static charge generated by grinding. This allows for coffee to fall directly from the burrs into the portafilter without any clumping or stray grounds creating messy countertops, while minimizing retention and waste when changing the grind size.
Constant motor speed
The Swan features an advanced motor control and monitoring system, which brings a level of consistency that was not previously possible. This motor control system allows for a constant burr speed regardless of resistance from the coffee or changes to grind size, resulting in the exact same dose and particle size every time you grind.
Dose by revolution
The advanced motor monitoring system also allows the user to program each dose based on the number of revolutions made by the burrs. This ensures more accuracy and consistency than timer-based grinders.
Essential features
Stable Low Heat Grinding
The Swan reduces heat through two unique systems: A belt drive that separates the burrs from the heat created by the motor, and a uniquely efficient burr design. Traditional grinder burrs spin up to 110 times to grind the same amount of coffee that the Swan can in 10 revolutions. These efficient burrs drastically reduce the amount of heat generated by friction.
Button-less portafilter detection
The Swan uses the conductivity of the portafilter as the sensor to activate grinding. This system is free of moving parts, ensuring reliability.
User Interface
The Swan user interface is built from the same architecture as the Linea PB. The barista can now understand the menu structure and functions without having to learn a new machine.
Easy Cleaning
Since there is no internal coffee chute, the burrs can be easily accessed from above and below without removing them. This allows you to quickly clean the grinder without affecting your burr alignment.
