Last month La Marzocco UAE connected with the community by creating a “Not Your Normal Latte Art Throwdown” called Raw Coffee in Dubai.
Rather than having your usual latte art throwdown format, they “spiced things up”. First by providing no pre-registration and no announcement of what the competition format would exactly be. Only posting general details on their Instagram.
Raw Coffee brought in 121 baristas, though 16 were picked to participate in the competition. Hosted by Matt of Raw Coffee Company and judged by La Marzocco Dubai General Manager Csaba Henter, alongside celebrity judges, Twinzylx.
Rounds had unconventional surprises like blindfolding the competitors during the drink preparation and pour. In the semi-finals, competitors were judged on creating latte art using three different cup sizes with one identical pattern. The finals called for a dragon pattern.
Ultimately, Warren from XO Coffee was crowned champion. Pasang from Stree General Trading and Lian from Café 2.0 took 2nd and 3rd place.
They also showcased the Wally Milk and KB90, filling the night with coffee, fun, food, smiles, and live DJ music.
