A momentous week for Accademia del Caffè Espresso, the brand new multifunctional center designed by La Marzocco to promote the culture of coffee at 360 °, was privileged to host the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, the Indonesian Ambassador, Esti Andayani, the Consul for the regions of Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, Jacopo Cappuccio, the Mayor of Fiesole, and Anna Ravoni.
These honored guests were in Italy to participate in the G20 in Florence being held 16-18 September, where the great countries of the world tackle delicate issues related to agriculture, consumption, and sustainability. Minister Limpo and his entourage (diplomats and professionals in the agri-food sector) had the opportunity to take part in a meeting organized around two main objectives. The first was to establish relationships with local producers in order to strengthen the exchange of products between the two countries. More significantly, they were there to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding – Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia (SCAI) with the Accademia del Caffè Espresso – an agreement dedicated to conveying increased awareness regarding the origin and excellence of Indonesian coffee (Indonesia being one of the world’s leading producers).
The undisputed star of the day was coffee, which connected all parties in, especially cultural terms. In fact, the intent of this agreement is precisely to bring even greater attention to the quality of Indonesian coffee beans and of the supply chain which exists in full respect of the ecosystem of all the players who take part in the production chain.
Between smiles, chats, cupping, and tastings of specialty foods, the day certainly marked an important point in the brief history of the Accademia, which is a short time has already reaped the first fruits of an international project to promote and protect the most loved drink in the world.
